Almost four thousand years ago Lady Selene of the Air Kingdom met the with royal children of the other kingdoms in order to stop the war that had been raging for years. She, Sir Markus of the Fire Kingdom, Sir Simeon of the Water Kingdom, and Lady Adelaide of the Earth Kingdom, were the only hope for stopping the war and restoring peace to their land.

By combining the Sacred Crown Jewels and reciting an incantation from an ancient spell book, the war would end. But in a series of tragic events, Adelaide betrayed the other royal children for her own personal gain. She tried to escape with her crown jewel, but Selene killed her and retrieved the jewel for the incantation to be completed. Simeon completed the incantation, then added a second, unknown spell to it. Seconds later, he was killed by an archer's arrow.

The armies were surrounding the remaining royal children, Markus and Selene. Markus fell to a soldier's dagger. Instead of letting herself be outnumbered and killed, Selene grabbed the crown jewels, which turned into a sword at her touch, and stabbed herself.

Unbeknown to them, Simeon's second incantation was a reincarnation spell. The four royal children's souls were transported to the present. Sarah Wynds, Marshall Fier, Silas Wade, and the new kid, Ashley Natrelle, are unaware of their past lives. As high school students, their powers begin to emerge, as well as enemies from their past.

As it turns out, the four royal children were not the only ones brought to the present. Others used the same spell and were transported themselves; some to protect the royal children, some to eliminate them for good, and others still for their own personal reasons.

What will happen now? Will they make it through high school as normal students? Will they be able to defeat their ancient enemies once again? Will Ashley follow the same path she did in her past life and betray her friends? Will the the small town of Pine Hill succumb to the conflicting elements?
